Katrina's Northern Lights

Katrina, my 10 year old granddaughter, came to one of my painting classes and she really enjoyed the idea that she was able to come and paint in a real class setting along with other painters. She was so excited about how her painting turned out, orginally she wanted to paint a painting for her uncle but after she completed it she doesn't know if she really wants to give this one away, she put red, green, blue, and silver sparkles in it and it really looks neat. I never can get the pictures to really look as great as the painting really is.

Here is her painting..........

Seascapes, Landscapes & November's Painting

Well it's official I'm Certified as a Bob Ross Instructor. I have completed my 3rd level and I proudly took my certificate September 19. I made some great friends there and I feel we had excellent instructors. Anyone considering going for their certification I highly recommend going to Waseca Mn. they have a fantastic facility and lots of supplies. The people there are very nice from the hotel staff at American Motel Inn ( where I stayed) to Viking Wood and Crafts (where I took the course).

I have posted some of my paintings that we did in class, although I don't like doing seascapes I finally got the hang of it with my instructor Mary coaching me ( she was very patient with me) .

I have included the painting that we will be doing during my classes on November 1 in Arborg and November 2nd in Riverton ( it's the last painting).

If you would like me to come to your area to set up a class please send me an email bernroy@mts.net .

I hope you will be able to see these clearly enough.

Bernice CRI ( Certified Ross Instructor)

This Painting is called the Northern Lights we will be painting it during the November class

Hidden Mountain 2

I painted this one September 9th, 2008, it's the same painting as before but on a smaller scale and I decided to put a path on the right hand side just to make it a little different. This will be the painting that I'm going to do with my first class. I think they will love how easy it will be to paint it.

my 30 minute painting

We have to practice to do a painting in 30 minutes so I did this, I know it's not great but hey it was done in 29 minutes.
Would you believe that I have sold 15 of my paintings so far? I was so excited when the first one sold, then I really got excited when a total stranger bought one, another stranger bought 2 and then sent a friend of hers over and that person bought 1.
I decided to set up my painting classes with a date and a place actually I set up 2 places and 2 dates, one in Arborg and 1 in Riverton, I have bookings for those classes as well.

I've painted other ones but didn't take pictures of them.

This one took a little longer about 45 minutes and I call it " My View"
I hope you can see it clearly enough.

"Northern Lights"

"Reflections of Gold"

This is another Bob Ross(TM) paintings from his Volume 23 #4 book.
I really enjoy doing the oval paintings, one is never sure if it's going to turn out until you pull the contact paper away. I learnt a trick at my level one instructions, when you use contact paper also use a hairblower around the edge of the contact paper it helps to keep it in place.... it works..

I painted this June 5, 2008

Valley Waterfall

This painting was soooooo much fun to do. It's a Bob Ross RT(Registered Trademark)

You can find this painting to try in his Volume 23 # 8 Book.

You start with a white canvas and paint it with black gesso, wait for it to dry then over paint with your oils.

This painting is great for beginners like myself and if you never painted before you will be amazed at the results.

Try it........ you will fall in love with the idea that you can do this....

Oval Essence

Well I went for my Level One Certification In the States, I have to go back 2 more times in order to get my Level 3 and then I will be certified to Teach the Bob Ross method of painting.

Our Instuctor, Darryl, was fantastic, he taught me allot, there's a certain way to hold and load the brushes and knives in order to get the results that we are looking for. hopefully, I will remember and practice what he taught.

I received my Level One Certificate and a cool Bob Ross Mug and pen and many new friends.....

Here is what I painted ( with instructions from Darryl) on Wednesday ( our third day there) May 7th, 2008

Katrina's Just for Fun painting

Katrina my 9 year old granddaughter was over on Monday May 12 and painted this by herself. I thought she did a terrific job. She mentioned that she just loves painting but what she loves the most is after she is finished and she gets to scoop up all the paint and make a new pile of color with the left over paint, although she doesn't like cleaning the brushes she will do it b/c Grandma said if you want to paint you have to keep the brushes clean and in good shape......

Notice the birds in the sky

here's her painting.

Peaceful Moments

I started to paint another painting and it just didn't want to work for me, so I wiped it out and started over, this is what came out. I was looking at it and wanted to come up with a name, nothing came to me and for some reason I just sat and stared at it and it seem very peaceful for some reason so I thought hey .... I got a title.... I hope you find it peaceful too.

Well the old saying is keep trying, well.......... it didn't work........

I am posting this just to show you that I certainly need more practice......

I painted this today April 10, 2008.

following instruction from the book it said for me to start with a black canvas. I was able to do that.... then it went down hill from there. so this will be an orginal I really can't blame anyone else, no-one else was here with me.....

Well here goes.... here it is.... don't laugh .... I guess I should follow the name My Hiding Spot and keep the painting
out of sight.

Katrina's secret place

My granddaughter, Katrina, whom is only 9 years old was over visiting me and her grandfather. She wanted to paint a picture today, April 3rd, 2008. So I set up the paints and the canvas and gave her little instructions on the how to's . She did 98% of it herself with a little help from grandma. We started with a black canvas and she wanted to just paint a picture without having to follow a video. I think the paiting turned out great.

"At Dawn's Light"

Painted: March 14, 2008

Here's another one of Bob Ross's creations, well actually... it's a paint off a video creation of his and what my brushes did while watching his video.

I hope you can see the path that goes into the bushes on the left hand side. I really like doing reflections in the water, it's actually easier then you think.

Summer Get Away

There are two pictures of the same painting the second one i played with it in a program.

I had to lighten the photo in a program so that it would show up better. I had problems with the trees on the left hand side so I decided that a tree didn't grow there anymore and put in the shack and the path. I figure that if you are fishing there and it started to rain you would be able to run into the shack and keep dry... painted March 1st, 2008

later I played with this painting in microsoft picture it 07 thought it turned out pretty cool so I thought I would show you what I did, here it is.....

Storm Coming + A Painting from Sandi

In Manitoba we had our first Feb. holiday called Louis Riel Day. This long weekend brought a special gift, my daughter, Sandi, and her husband, Clayton, it was a great long weekend.

Sandi and I decided to paint a picture, we also decided that we would use an old canvas that had a awful looking painting on it (my beginnings which were even worse then what you are seeing now) and cover it with black gesso, then play with the oil paints and paint whatever we wanted.

I will show you Sandi's painting and then scroll and see mine, we were not trying to do the same one we were each playing with the oil paints.

this is Sandi's 5th painting that she has ever painted, which is sooooo much better then the ones that I do, but then she has a natural talent for being creative

and here is mine

Fishing Pond

I again enjoyed painting this one, I painted it December 16, 2007, taking about 3hours from start to finish. I use Bob Ross Landscape Oils which are really great to work with, most of this painting was also done with a 2 inch brush.
comments good or bad are always welcome.

Waves at Sunset

I really enjoyed painting this one, Started with a black canvas it took about 4 hours from start to finish.

All comments about my paintings are welcome, yes, even negative ones, since negative ones will help to improve.

I use 16 by 20 double primed canvases, right now I'm selling them at $45.00 each (without frame) plus shipping.

I have lightened the view of the painting so that you can see it a bit better. My computer shows it darker then what it actually is. I hope this helps.....

Moonlit Evening

I did this painting on November 13th 2007

Thank you

"Wow! I can't believe it. I am soooo excited! I actually received wonderful comments on my first post! This is very exciting...I really didn't think that any body would have noticed my blog so quickly. So, I just wanted to say a BIG THANK-YOU to everyone who has posted a comment so far. You really made a newbie blogger's day!"

Just to let you all know... I just started oil painting 1 year ago Oct of 2006 ( never picked up a brush before that) and I'm planning on going to get certified as a Bob Ross instructor, ( which means that I can teach how to oil paint), this should all happen by the end of September 2008.

Since Oct of 2006 I painted a few paintings following the Bob Ross method and I love it ( the style of painting). If you ever get a chance to go to a class I'm sure you will find that you don't want to put the paint brush down.

Normally it takes about 3 to 7 hours to paint a full picture ( not bad eh)
